How we support our students

Learn more about the work we do to support our Kids League Kenya students and alumni, during their education and beyond.

During their education

When a student is selected to join the Kids League Kenya scholarship programme, we do what we can to help them, not just helping with school fees.

This includes working with their family to make sure the student has all the essentials for their time at their new school. Secondary school is often far from their home in Kongowea Mombasa, so it’s important that these children have what they need to get the best start.

We have a strict schedule of submitting results and school reports in order to process the money for the fees, but this process also helps instill discipline in our students. They must meet deadlines and provide complete information.

Having this information is also useful for our team to help supporting students. As we build a relationship with them, we understand their strengths and their ambitions. We are a motivating resource to help them achieve their grades and fulfil their potential.

With over 25 years experience supporting these children, we also have a lot of experience in a variety of challenging situations. We are able to offer support and guidance during their schooling journey, through secondary and tertiary if that is the vocational ambition of the student.

Our alumni and student community

Each year we hold ‘Kids League Day’. This is a chance for our students and their families to all meet. We invite alumni to tell their story to the latest scholars, talk about campus life and motivate those coming through.

This works well as a networking opportunity, creating bonds between students and a chance to catch up annually.

When supporting students beyond education we also have a alumni Whatsapp group, where students are connected and can help support each other. Our graduates also use this a chance to get referrals when job hunting, to share opportunities and best practice.

Finding a job after education is a challenge for anyone, and Kids League Kenya students are no different.

We work to help students with their CV, their LinkedIn profiles and personal brand to improve their desirability to recruiters. We also are proactive with potential recruiting companies, trying to find opportunities for interviews, internships and other work experience for our students.
